March 28 Challenge No patterned paper

Welcome back to my blog.

This week the challenge is : no patterned paper.

I never really realized how hard it can be to not use patterned paper, this card gave me a little bit of grief. I think maybe it was the color that I used. I couldn't seem to match another color to compliment this tone. That's why I decided to go with 3 tones in the same color. Kind of a bit monochromatic as well. I actually had to walk away from it for a bit. I was really happy with the coloring of this super cute image called Lucy Spring by Lia Stampz from Whimsy Stamps, but something was not working for me. Sometimes if you walk away from something give it a few hours or a day, you come back fresh, with different ideas. Somehow by doing this .... you can just flow with a new look on things. It seemed to work for me, so if you happen to have that creative block don't get frustrated just give it some time. Then go back with a new look at your project and it will come together nicely.

I think mine did.

I hope that this will inspire you to create a project and play along with us at Whimsy for this weeks challenge for a chance to win free digital stamps.

I took this picture a bit closer to show what I did with the wings, they are cut out of vellum twice then glued in the middle of the wing and star dust stickles are added. Stickles will actually start to shrink and curl the vellum so be careful how much you add. But it does give a super wonderful effect. I used this once before and didn't know that stickles did that .

But I sure love the effect that it gives - try it sometime.
The sentiment is fitting given that this is a fairy and some wishes do come true.

Supplies: Lucy Spring digital stamp from Whimsy stamps, Bazzill cardstock, Moroccan Motifs Spellbinders, Fab Scraps pearls, vellum, Ranger star dust stickles, Technique Tuesday stamps.

Shape EZ challenge

This weeks challenge is a little different

- no coloring.

I used these really wonderful templates from Whimsy Stamps called Shape EZ by TLC, there are 14 of them in total. The two that I used are the Shape EZ Gift Pouch and the Roll bag. They are really easy to use and super cute for a little gift or some treats for a birthday party . You should click here and check out the other DT creations using these templates. I hope to see you try a EZ shape project and play along with us at Whimsy.

This is the roll bag, I did not put the window in it , I wanted it to be like a little gift bag. The bottle cap sentiments are from Whimsy Stamps and they are cut out using the matching Dies.

This is the gift pouch, I just adhered a piece of plastic overlay on the inside so I could fill it with little treats. I added a ribbon handle so you can pack it.

Supplies: Shape EZ, Bottle cap stamps & dies from Whimsy Stamps, Prima Marketing flowers, EK border punch, Martha Stewart branch punch, patterned paper, distress ink and ribbon.

March 14 Challenge

Wet or Dry Embossing.

I choose to dry emboss. The patterned paper that I used didn't seem to like my embossing folder, no matter what I did it kept tearing the paper. I try putting paper on each side of the paper in the folder to protect it, making a different sandwich with my big shot. It was really starting to frustrate me, the piece that I finally used turned out pretty good it just looked a little vintage but I liked the effect that I got when I finished my card.

The image that I used is by Moon Cookie from Whimsy Stamps, a super cute image called Paisley 4. I love that you can resize the digital images so I did this one a little bit bigger than I typically do. I wanted it to take up more of the card , to really be the focal point.

You should jump over to the Whimsy Inspires blog to get inspired by the wonderful DT creations.

Here is my card, I hope that it will help inspire you to create a card or project, and play along with us or just to help you create a wonderful project for someone who you care about.

Thanks for stopping by.

March 7 Challenge

Welcome Back!

This weeks challenge is: no sentiment.

Seems easy enough right , not necessarily. Every card that you see has some type of sentiment on it right. The image that I used made by LivvyBo Designs found at Whimsy Stamps could be used for so many really great things. It could be a just because , twins or just to cheer someone up card. I hope that you'll make someone a just because card with no sentiment and play along with us at Whimsy Inspires blog for a chance to win a great digital image.
