Feb 29 Paper Piecing Challenge

Welcome back to my blog.

The challenge this week is paper piecing, a interesting challenge, I have never tried it before but glad that this challenge has helped me once again step out of the box to try something new that I will definately try again. I'm not sure it you have ever tried doing this, but you can print off your image or stamp it and cut out the pieces instead of coloring them- then glue your pieces onto your image. It adds more texture to your image . I have rather enjoying trying this.

I would love for you to try this and if you do add it to the Whimsy challenge blog for a chance to win digital stamps. I used this really cute Crissy digi from Whimsy Stamps called In The Doghouse. Click here to jump over to the Whimsy blog to check out the DT creations for a little inspiration.

Here is the card that I used for this weeks challenge.

I paper pieced the dog house, flowers & grass.

I used copic markers to color the dog, the words were cut out using the making memories slice machine. I cut the bone out of paper as well then I popped a brad into where the nail should be to hang the sign. I used wire to twist it throught the sign to give it the look that it is hanging. I really enjoyed making this card, hope you have enjoyed looking

Thanks for stopping by!

Feb. 22 Monochromatic Challenge

The challenge for the week is Monochromatic.

Monochromatic is pertaining to or having tones of one color, so I used the color brown in various shades. I wasn't sure when I first started coloring this super cute Lia Stampz image from Whimsy Stamps if the whole image would look good with brown. I knew the frog would but the rain and umbrella I wasn't sure of, but the more I colored the more I liked it. If you have never tried monochromatic now is the perfect time to give it a try. Find a image, give it a try then add your creation to the Whimsy inspires challenge for a chance to win a great digital image. Click here and then you can go over to the Whimsy challenge to check out some really great monochromatic creations from the Whimsy Design Team.

Here is my card for this weeks challenge, hope it will inspire you to try a monochromatic creation.

Here's the corner with some really great brown flowers with some clear crystal stems from Whimsy added.
Supplies: Froggy image by Lia Stampz from Whimsy Stamps, copic markers, bazzill cardstock, miscellaneous patterned paper, Prima Marketing flowers, Kaiser Craft pearls, Clear crystal stem from Whimsy Stamps, Ek corner punch, Ribbon and brads.

Feb 15 anything but square.

Anything but square!

Well the sounds easy enough doesn't it, this was a little more challenging for me to do. I have made cards that were rectangular but most of my cards, in fact just about all of them are 6X6. I like that size cause you can do so much with it. So once again to step out of my comfort zone and do something that I never typically do was challenging to say the least. But that why they call it a challenge and that's why I love doing them so much. Well my card is definately a different shape it started off rectangular but then I threw a twist in there and added a circle to the top left corner. Also added a die cut shape to the bottom part of my easel card, so my shape is a bit different. I used a digi stamp from Whimsy Stamps by StampArt Designs called Little Bear Ready For Bed. This super cute image was really wonderful to work with.

Also for one week Whimsy Stamps is having a digi sale from Feb 14 to the 21

it's 50% off,

prices are marked, no code is necessary. So now is the time to jump over and grab some images.

Here is my challenge card. I hope that you will make a card/project and play along with us this week on the Whimsy Challenge Blog.

Here is a close up of the my sentiment. I drew it out, this is one of my favorite word designs. Its fun and easy for me to do help me add a little more of my creativity to my prjects.

Here is a picture that shows you a side view of my easel card.
